In England, the statistics indicate that almost 6.7% of people have been diagnosed with diabetes. Bradford, Harrow, Sandwell and West Birmingham have a prevalence rate of 10.49%, 9.40% and 9.15% respectively. However, parts of Richmond and Camden and Central London have lower prevalence rate of 3.63% and 4.0% respectively. It has been reported that, almost a million people have type 2 diabetes but are yet to be diagnosed. This means that, there are people who are diabetic but are not aware of the condition. Probably, they continue engaging in practices that will cause harm rather than taking precautionary measures early in order to avoid complications. The prevention of diabetes type two has shown a 60% rate of prevention but only under strict diet and physical exercise. Patients with type 2 diabetes have to be very careful with what they eat. Patients with type 2 diabetes are advised not stave off hunger. The main important thing is controlling the blood sugar levels and this is the reason why patients are recommended to watch their diet. Foods which are rich in carbohydrates cause the blood sugars to increase. Wheat, rice, pasta, fruits, milk and desserts can cause high levels of sugar in the blood. The amount patients with diabetes eat should focus on the amount of sugars being consumed. However, patients are advised to always chose sugar free foods especially the ones that they like or are comfortable eating.
